Search Engine Submission
The way a webmaster submits a website directly to a search engine is called Search Engine Submission.
It is considered to be a promoting tool for a website, however, it is well known that major search engines with a help of crawlers (computing program that searches the Internet in order to create an index of data), bots, and spiders are able to find new web sites in the Internet by themselves.
The reasons why Search Engine Submission is still necessary and of a great use are the following: adding an entirely new website or a webpage because the site operators would not wait for a search engine to discover them; making a website updated in the respective search engine.
Today the two basic methods are used for submitting a website to a search engine. It is possible either submit just one web page at a time, or submit the entire site at one time with a sitemap. In general, all that a webmaster really needs to do is simply submitting a website’s home page; using just the home page, most search engines are able to crawl a site, in condition it was created in a proper and correct way.
Mainly, a lot of websites tend to be present in popular search engines, because this is the way most people start their search for a product or service; mainly an Internet user seeks information on the web, using a search engine; a list of the first websites names which appear on the first page of a search are, usually, called the top 10 and after clicking on the site link (hyperlink) the web page or a website appears in the web browser.
Thus, while speaking about Search Engine Submission, the main reason why webmasters often tend to place their sites in the top 10 in a search engine search faces itself: Internet users are not very likely to look over more than one page of search results, their logic is simple: the best, the most appropriate and meeting all the requirements results are the first few ones.
That is why for getting a good position among search results in different search engines, webmasters need optimizing of their web pages; this process is called search engine optimization. A lot of elements should be taken into account such as the placement and density of desirable keywords, the hierarchy structure of web pages employed in a website and the number of web pages that link to a given web page.
Page rank concept used in Search Engine Submission depends on the web’s democratic nature with using its vast link structure being an indicator of an individual page’s value. It looks the following way: a search engine interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. Sometimes a search engine treats not only the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page casting this vote. Votes made by pages that are themselves “important” and popular among the users, are more considerable in making other pages “important.” According to similar factors, search engines provide their picture of page’s relative importance, which should be taken into consideration by a webmaster while fulfilling a Search Engine Submission.
